Wild Appetite is one of New Zealand’s leading fine food manufacturers with a
range of premium quality barbecue, savoury, sauté cooking and dessert sauces,
dressings, marinades and condiments.

Recognized by winning many global taste awards, Wild Appetite continues to
innovate with new flavours and product groups, offering consumers in New
Zealand and across the globe, enticing selections of fine foods to enhance their
every day meals, impress their guests at home or simply as a gift for those
special occasions throughout the year.

Wild Appetite won a total of seven 2011 London Great Taste Awards in seven
different categories, a recognition that our products are as good as anywhere in
the world. The Strawberry & Champagne Chocolate Sauce was one of a few to
be awarded the 2 star Gold award – ‘a faultless & exquisite product’ according to
the judging criteria.

At Wild Appetite, we attribute these award successes to careful selection of raw
materials used, together with innovative product and process development and
control, at our own process kitchen in Auckland, New Zealand.

During 2008/09 a new brand URBAN APPETITE was developed to provide
Gluten Free options to consumers. Although the majority of Wild Appetite
products are also gluten free, all the products in Urban Appetite are Verified as
Gluten Free and during 2011 a new product group, Sauté Cooking Sauces, was
released onto the market under the Urban brand that has extra No Added Salt
features, providing additional health benefits in lowering the daily salt intake.

Our History


Wild Appetite began in 1989 as a family business on a blueberry farm near
Matakana, in the upper North Island of New Zealand.

From these beginnings, Wild Appetite gourmet condiments, conserves,
dressings and sauces have become sought after by food-lovers both in New
Zealand and around the world.

In 2009, the business was purchased by Peter McCracken and Mark Tasker.
Both have active daily management roles in the company, an important
requirement to take Wild Appetite into its third decade of operation.

With a background in food technology and export market development, Peter
decided to combine his skills and experience with business partner Mark who
had come from a financial background with planning and management skills.

Company History Milestones


1989 – WILD APPETITE was born as a manufacturer and marketer
of gourmet preserves and conserves by Gerald & Virginia O’Leary on
their Blueberry farm in Matakana, north of Auckland, NZ.

1993 – WILD APPETITE Brand established. Product range extended
to Gourmet Sauces and Dressings.

1997 – RE DESIGNED packaging and bottles to reflect the target
market of specialty stores and gift market associated with the Brand
image.

1999 / 2000 – FIRST EXPORT ORDER TO DENMARK. Exports
expanded to Australia, Germany, UK, USA, Dubai and Singapore.

2002 / 2003
UK GREAT TASTE AWARDS – Wild Appetite Matakana Bell Pepper
Sauce, Melanesian Mango Sauce and Hokey Pokey Chocolate Sauce
won GOLD.
Wild Appetite Wasabi & Ginger Dressing won Silver.
Wild Appetite Smokey Barbecue Sauce, Avocado & Garlic Dressing and
Tropical Sensation Dessert Sauce won Bronze

2003 – AUSTRALIAN market developed.

2004 - AUSTRALIAN Fiery Foods Award –
Hot As Chilli Sauce – GOLD.
Cajun BBQ Sauce, Mexican Chilli Salsa and Sweet Chilli Chutney -
SILVER

2004 – MOVED TO NEW PREMISES in Albany, Auckland to cater for
expansion.

2008 – LAUNCH OF URBAN APPETITE BRAND in Australia and
NZ

2009 – BUSINESS PURCHASED BY Peter McCracken & Mark Tasker

2011 - LAUNCH of the new Signature embossed Wild Appetite
          250ml bottle for sauces, dressings and marinades
       -  LAUNCH of new product group, SAUTÉ Cooking SAUCES in
         unique 425 g jar to NZ and Australia.

LONDON GREAT TASTE AWARDS

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers in London, the Great Taste
Awards, the largest and most prestigious food awards internationally, are
regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the food industry. The Great Taste Award is the
acknowledged benchmark for specialty food and drink.
Quite simply, the Great Taste Award logo is the sign you can trust when buying
food from your retailer anywhere in the world.
In 2011, there were a total of 7,482 products entries from over 1500 companies.
There were a total of 230 different food categories being judged.
All the tasting is blind and the 350+ judges are fine food retailers, chefs, food
writers, restaurant critics and other industry experts.
Winning a Gold Taste award differentiates products from the norm, and it means
the consumers have a guarantee that the products they buy have a reliable seal
of approval based on great taste and not just marketing alone.

Bronze Awards 2003


Wild Appetite Smokey Barbecue Sauce won a Bronze Award in the
Table Sauce Class.
Wild Appetite Tropical Sensation Sauce won a Bronze Award in the
Fruit Sauce Class.

Gold Awards 2002

Wild Appetite's Matakana Bell Pepper Pour Over Sauce and Melanesian
Mango Pour Over Sauce each won a Gold Award in the Table Sauce
Class. Only four Gold Awards were presented in this class in total.

Wild Appetite’s Hokey Pokey & Chocolate Sauce won a Gold Award in
the Non-Fruit Sauce Class – one of only two awarded in this class in
total.

Silver Award 2002

Wild Appetite’s Wasabi & Ginger Dressing won a Silver Award in the
Prepared Salad Dressing Class.

Bronze Award 2002

Wild Appetite’s Avocado & Garlic Dressing won a Bronze Award in the
Prepared Salad Dressing Class.

FIERY FOOD AWARDS - AUSTRALIA

The Australian Fiery Food Awards are organised annually by the Chilli Press in
Sydney, Australia. Local chilli growers and producers in Australia fiercely contest
these awards, and every item is blind tasted before the winners are chosen.

Gold Awards 2004

Wild Appetite Chilli Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil won the Best Chilli Oil category.
Wild Appetite Hot As Chilli Explosive Sauce won the Best Packaging category.

Silver Awards 2004

Wild Appetite Barbecue Cajun Sauce won second place in the Best Barbecue
Sauce category.
Wild Appetite Mexican Chilli Salsa won second place in the Best Salsa category.
Wild Appetite Sweet Chilli Chutney won second place in the Best Chutney
category.

MASSEY UNIVERSITY BIENNIAL FOOD AWARDS 2002

The Massey University Food Awards biennially honour the best New
Zealand has to offer in food technology, showcasing excellence
in innovation, presentation and creativity. The Food Awards were
instigated in the mid - 1980s with support from PrintPac-UEB and
Carter Holt Harvey. They progressed from strength to strength to
become high-profile and are now recognised as the most prestigious
acknowledgement of innovation in the New Zealand food industry –
past Award winners are seen as the pinnacle of excellence for the
industry. Since 1998, Massey University has organised these Awards.

A.J. Park Packaging Design Award

The A.J. Park Packaging Design Award was presented to Wild
Appetite for its innovative use of the miniature 3-tiered glass bottle
of the Bread Dipper Set. Upon presentation of the Award, judges
commented “Wild Appetite bread dips with a ‘bottle inside a bottle’
concept is a stunning gift. The judges loved the stackability of the
three bottles, which were sufficiently elegant to serve directly on the
table. They hadn't seen anything like this before. The idea of dipping
bread in olive oil, then vinegar and finally dukkah in the one package
was highly original and an unusual novelty gift.”

RETURNS POLICY

Our goods have a shelf life of 2 years unopened.
Upon opening goods should be kept refrigerated and used within
six weeks. Once the goods are in your possession we cannot be
responsible for any fault with the products because their care is out of
our control. Exception to this is in the case of a manufacturing fault or
recall only.

Confidentiality is our guarantee to you. We respect your privacy and
we are committed to protecting all personal information that you
share with us. When we require information to provide services that

which can be made by credit card MasterCard or Visa or by internet banking
direct to our account. All prices given are in New Zealand Dollars, but can be
converted to other currencies by selecting the currency you choose. Conversion

DELIVERY ADDRESSES AND METHOD

We are unable to deliver to Post Office Box numbers. Please supply
a physical address for all orders. The courier will require a signature
upon delivery. If you are not at home when the courier calls and
you have not requested special delivery instructions at the time of
ordering, the courier will leave a card with contact details so you can
arrange a suitable alternative delivery time.

If you request goods to be left in a specific location at your home in
your absence this gives permission for the courier to leave the delivery
without a signature.

Any courier damage must be notified within 24 hours of delivery, by email or
telephone.
